I rescued my dog Max 2 months ago and when I got him he had a scab on his nose that they told me was from sticking his nose through the fence. now the skin is healed and nice and pink but no hair is growing. does it just need more time or is it not going to grow back?

EDIT: So your family continues to be emotionally abusive to a dog that you rescued from previous abuse? Have you pointed this out to them? If so, and they continue to do it, I wouldn't allow them around the dog anymore. What a bunch of brain dead idiots.

it probably won't grow back. every time there's an injury where the hair grows, it never grows again. that happens to humans also.

Give it a little more time....sometimes trauma causes the hair to grow back slower than normal....then again, it may never grow back....hopefully it won't matter one way or the other to you, so long as he's healthy and happy! :)

It is possible good old Max might have damaged the follicles on that spot, creating scar tissue. In that case, likely the hair will not grow back.

Possibly needs more time but if it is not going to grow back it may need sun protection during the summer. I am NOT sending you up, a friend of mine had a sun-burnt dog after it was clipped in the Summer. it is sad when this happens and they don't deserve it

Its almost like getting a cut on your scalp or eyebrow. When scar tissue develops, it halts hair growth in the affected area.

Just like human scars, there is a good chance Max will not grow hair back on his muzzle. Most likely is that he destroyed the hair roots since he apparently kept re-injuring the area by sticking his nose through the fence. Other then being a cosmetic issue, it shouldn't make much of a difference to Max whether the hair grows back or not. I would keep on eye on the area in severe heat or cold so it doesn't sunburn or frostbite.

It may eventually grow some, but scar tissue is different than regular skin. I once had a motorcycle wreck and lost a lot of skin on my forearms, It eventual healed up ok, but you can still see where it happened years later because there are no freckles where the wounds were, although my arm hair did come back slightly. Your dog may get some hair back eventualy tho, it hasnt really been that long, it takes awhile

Probably the best thing to do is to punch Max on both sides, of his face, hard, until scabs appear.
This way, he will have a wound in 3 spots on his face, making the wound on his nose much less noticeable.

Scars may grow fur back very slowly, if ever. It will take some time to tell if the fur will ever grow back.

If it has recently healed, it could possibly just not have grown hair back yet, but most likely it is scar tissue and hair will not grow there even with rogaine!!! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but all you can do is wait. So what if he is missing a bit of hair, don't let that stop you from loving him, because it won't stop him from loving you.

If it's still pink, it may just be too soon for hair to have grown back, the skin has only just healed.
However, be aware that hair often does not grow on scars on animals! Not a big deal, it'll just be part of his uniqueness! So long as the wound's healed, that's the main thing.

might not grow back ever. fiona is a rescue dog, and she had a large scar between her eyes and two small ones on her forehead since we got her. since she was abandoned, we have no idea how it got there, and its been two years. the vet says its just scar tissue
people always ask about them since shes a pit bull they assume shes a fighter. they dont hurt her, she doesnt notice them at all, so if shes ok with having naked spots, im ok with it too.
